Kim Beggs releases fifth solo album ‘Said Little Sparrow’
Heads out on a 40-date Canadian Tour including major cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Regina, Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton and more

“Kim Beggs’ voice lures you in with its emotive melancholy before you’ve had time to absorb the fact that she’s a formidable songwriter.”
– NOW Magazine

(October 2, 2017 – Toronto, ON) Yukon singer-songwriter Kim Beggs sets out on a 40-date tour across Canada this fall in support of her fifth solo album (seventh album in 13 years) Said Little Sparrow, which will be released on October 1, 2017 and will be made available digitally at, on iTunes and Spotify and more or in person at one of Kim’s live shows.

Said Little Sparrow holds true to Kim’s unmistakeable sound effortlessly merging her unique self-proclaimed genre of folk-roots-oldtime-country-americana. The songwriting structure weaves stories of her own life and the experiences she has lived, creating an unforgettable musical experience for the listener. By purchasing a physical album, fans are treated to a beautiful 42-page booklet curated by Kim including chords, lyrics, family photos, and a story for almost every song. Said Little Sparrow is honest, emotional, dark and truly authentic to who Kim Beggs is.

“I was a late bloomer to begin with and while at times I ponder about what would have happened if I started in the music biz when I was 20, I might not have survived and I don’t think I would have had the same things to say. I needed to grow up first,” said Beggs. “I continue to be as inspired as ever with music. The songs on Said Little Sparrow were written in a relatively short period of time and then honed over a longer period of time including during the recording process. Producing this album was a challenging but wonderful learning curve for me. Though I do look forward to making future records with other producers I admire, I am also interested in producing records/songs for emerging artists.”

The album was self-produced in collaboration with engineers David Travers-Smith, David Baxter, Andrew Collins, Scott Maynard and Jim Holland (Whitehorse). Kim was graced by many musical contributors throughout the album, including Sam Allison, Kevin Barr, David Baxter, Jonathan Byrd, Burke Carroll, Lianne Cranfield, Nicole Edwards, Justin Haynes, Michelle Josef, Brian Kobayakawa, John Showman and Suzie Ungerleider.

Kim has successfully released seven albums in the past 13 years which have garnered her with six Western Canadian Music Award nominations, three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations and the opportunity to share the stage and tour with the likes of Buffy St Marie, Penny Lang and Chris Jagger, as well as Kim’s contemporaries Corin Raymond, Jonathan Byrd, Oh Susanna, Kim Barlow, Ivan Coyote, Anne Louise Genest and as the Blue Warblers (with Natalie Edelson) to name a few. Kim has performed at the Edmonton Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, Blue Skies and Lunenburg festivals as well as Trafalgar Square for Canada Day in London where she was also a guest on the Bob Harris BBC radio show.
